Old Cairo, also known as Christian Coptic Cairo, is one of the most significant places visited by the Holy Family. They took shelter in a cave, above which the Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergius) was later built. You will also visit the Church of St. Barbara, the Hanging Church, the Coptic Museum, and the historic Ben Ezra Synagogue.
Continue your exploration in Islamic Cairo, founded in 641 AD by the first Muslim leader Amr ibn Al-As, and visit his mosque. Then see the Sultan Hassan Mosque, also known as Madrasa El Sultan Hassan, built in 1356 AD. Finally, visit the Al-Rifa’i Mosque, located opposite Sultan Hassan Mosque, dating from around 1361, which contains the mausoleum of the Egyptian Royal Family and the last Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi.
